When it comes to wedding planning, and as excited as all newly engaged couples are, the logistical aspects and bringing the design ideas to life can sometimes seem overwhelming. That’s where planners step in – that’s me! The first conversation we have with clients is budget (isn’t it always?). Once we help figure out where our dollars can best be allocated, we sit down and chat about your vision. Whether you have a Pinterest board or IG screenshots, it’s always helpful for us to see what you are attracted to in terms of styles. Some of our clients have a very specific vision where others may only have a color scheme in mind – either way, we are here to help streamline those thoughts and bring them to fruition!
From there, it’s time to #werk – we bring all of those fun ideas to life in a design board. From pulling invitation suite inspo, tabletop swoon décor, beautiful blooms, and custom signage. We take the time to create design boards that are not only fitting for your personal wedding day style, but we create a look for your wedding that feels one of a kind. Whether it’s pulling in personal touches from your culture or fun elements that directly relate to your relationship (think Ron Swanson quotes on cocktail napkins), our job is to make your wedding feel like YOUR wedding.
One of our favorite weddings from this year was for a couple that met in China, but were married at our brides’ parents estate on the bay in Pasadena, MD. Not only were both the bride + groom educators in China, but the bride’s family is also from the country. For their teacher backgrounds, we gracefully tied in chalkboard aspects throughout our design with bar signage and created custom wooden coasters that acted as favors + escorts using Chinese symbols instead of traditional table numbers. The color red was a major accent color for the day because in Chinese culture, the color represents luck, joy, and happiness. Although, their wedding was in July and some may have shied away from red, white and blue, we made it work and it ended up being one of our favorite weddings to date.
When it comes to design, we even like to tie in venue history to make sure our venues are hitting home for our couples. This year, we had a bride whose family went back generations of working with automobiles and with our bride being a self-proclaimed tomboy, we kept this in mind for our perfect venue. We ended up landing at The Bond, in York, PA which is an old Studebaker garage (can you say match made in heaven?). We took this idea and really ran with it for the wedding – from our escort board to help guests “find their parking spot” to her grandfather’s vintage car parts that we used as centerpieces, we had a blast putting this one together. Our bride actually told us, “I didn’t even know what I wanted, but somehow you figured out what it was” when she saw the space come to life. Nothing gives us greater joy than to give our couples, their family, and friends a day that they will never forget!
Design should be fun, not daunting and when it comes to creating a theme for your wedding, always make sure it feels personal to you. Find something you like on Pinterest that you love? Great!
